Joker Developments were formed in early 1995, and has been devoted to the Amiga right from the start. Almost four years later, we have decided to turn our attentions to the Web. The WWW is essentially a huge marketplace, and given the number of hits Aminet receives everyday (on just the UK site too!) we decided that we wanted a piece of the action.
Gareth Griffiths formed the company in that year, just one year after he purchased his first Amiga. Before 1995, he had formed three other companies which had quickly gone down the metaphorical toilet. These were Immortal Software (what an ironic name!), AMIGAmes (looked too much like Amiga Mess!) and finally, GGP (Gareth Griffiths Productions). These were all formed before Gareth really knew how to program the Miggy, so most projects fell through before completion, and continuation of the companies was deemed unprofitable.
For the next year, he studied the AMOS manual with great care, and by February '95, he felt he had enough knowledge to start over. Joker Developments was the name this time, and we're still here, nearly four years later.
The Joker Developments team was originally made up of one person, Gareth.
But he soon realised that he couldn't do EVERYTHING. He soon recruited one
of his friends from school, Andy Carpendale. He eventually became our
producer, but was a lowly graphic artist before that.
A year later, in April '96, Gareth spotted a programmer in the small
village of Clive, just outside Shrewsbury. His name was Paul Shemmell, and
he too had tried to form a successful company (the Graphic Wizards). Paul
is still a programmer, but is also the JD project manager.
However, JD are always on the lookout for new talent. If you have written a game, and want us to take a look at it, send it to us at the address on the home page. Don't forget to write 'Magnetic Media - Do Not X-Ray' on the envelope. Also, if you are a graphic artist (a good one) or a computer musician, and are looking for a job, send in a demo disk containing some of your work, and we will consider you for a possible position here at JD.
Joker Developments have (at present) one office in the UK. If you would like to contact us, you can do so at this address:
